Is this true?
I asked in another blog why Kasab and his friends turned to murder and mayhem. Maybe this will give us a clue.
Why are they fed lies and given a distorted self image at an age when they must be innocent and building self esteem? How will they be responsible, self respecting citizens of the world if they're told that they're universally hated? Why wont Pakistan's 'educated' as opposed to 'indoctrinated' citiziens wake up and demand to be told the truth? From Jinnah to Zardari, all their leaders, like their mullahs, have lied to the Pakistanis. A country established and run on the poisonous fuel of lies and dirty politics, it is now seen as an international migraine. Isn't that sad? They used to be us not very long ago and today they're this cringing, kicking, impoverished, frothing at the mouth, mutilated, infected neighbor that we can't bring ourselves to tolerate any longer.
We pray for a real Jihad in Pakistan. A revival of the real Islam. A new dawn of respect...for the truth and themselves. And when that happens, maybe they'll learn to respect the rest of us and earn our respect in return? Inshallah!

Ummeed pe duniya kaayam hai, Rati.
Learnt that proverb from Pakistanis!
The latest version of "real Islam" was in Afghanistan before 9/11. I am not sure any one cares any more for the real 'real Islam'...So you know what you are going to get
If we do not care for Islam, we must stop using /acknowledging the use/misuse of that term in every scenario. But it suits us to malign it as much as its 'followers' do because we want to 'stand apart' from them. Why? Because we are part of a Vasudeva Kutumbakam which doesn't embrace idiots from 'other' religions?
:) Round and round and round, eh?
AI, what is happening in Pakistan is only an extension of what has been happening for over a thousand years. I sometimes wonder why God could not foresee that his followers will use his name and the concept of jehad in such a manner. I wonder why he left so much room for dubious interpretation and the mindless and unprecedented violence and destruction and hatred that started almost with the birth of the new religion that was "always there"...
Why God couldn't forsee..I agree. I don't think Islam or any other religion came from God. But what is the source of good intentions and good thoughts? If the source is God, maybe all religions came from Him.
I know many hadith show Mohammed also to be just like the other Arabs of his time. Therefore I don't think stories about him are to be used to understand Islam.
I don't agree with everything I read about Ram's and Krishna's lives or the symbolism involved in those stories either. Why must I reject Hinduism because of that?
Why must we throw the baby out with the bath water?
A1, practically speaking, Mohammad is the creator of the religion. Angel Gabriel is said to have revealed the Quran to him over a period of 23 years. His companions wrote what he told them down. There is no one else in frame. Therefore, he cannot be de-linked at all. His life and deeds should have most accurately mirrored the word of God, with whom he alone was in communion through an angel. Therefore, stories about him are inseparable from, and have been used to understand, the religion. If some people think that even he got it wrong, then who will get it right?
Do you know who 'released' the final edition of the Qoran and when? Uthman's scholars went thru and authorised the final version decades after Muhammed's passing on that we have with us till date. There were other versions differing in dialect [and therefore perhaps meaning] that were DESTROYED in order to save ONE VERSION for the world.
For all we know, there was NO Muhammed, because there is no proof of him except the Qoran and the Hadeeth. No signatures, no pictures. How do you know this wasn't another fictiaonal character or just another layman who was framed by the powers that were?
Even if this is true, why would a religion advocating violence have a salutation like ASALAMALIKUM or say that there is no force in religion?
Vinod,
Here are a few questions I ask unreasonable Muslims
What does IQRA mean? Why didn't Mohammed learn to read and write if he was indeed illiterate when he was given the most important job in the world of conveying God's word to mankind? Why were other versions of the Qoran destroyed if the LAST MESSAGE OF GOD cannot be changed and is protected by GOD as claimed in the Qoran? So is the last message of God the Qoran or is it just the eternal TRUTH? How did Khadija, a widow have the freedom in 'barbaric times' to run a business, employ a man and propose marriage to him? If Adam and Eve were the first Muslims much before Muhammed and the Qoran, why can't those who haven't read the Qoran and haven't heard of Muhammed be following the path of Allah today and claim to be Muslim too?
.....and many such.
I've not recieved any convincing replies but I realised I wasn't questioning Islam. I was questioning the hadith.
I do not believe that any God wants us to fight in his name. Yet we do.
I think your heart already knows what only a heart can instinctively know. Follow it. Fill it unconditional love for your God who seeks you there and experience Him as only you can. He is not a tool to be used to play worldly power games and manipulate people for such purposes.
Your mind is not going to find the answers that haven't been found till now.
He is not a tool to be used to play worldly power games and manipulate people for such purposes.
...
And why are you telling ME this? You think I'm Muslim? :)))))))
And unconditional love for God? Doesn't unconditional love for your fellow creatures feature in this anywhere? If your love for another human is conditional, then you mustn't complain about their conditions, no?
Now we are arguing for nuts!!!
:)))))))
